Investigators have charged Mr. Robert Lisby and Joy Tyler with felony homicide and aggravated child abuse for the death of their one-year-old child in April 2021.

They made headlines most recently after law enforcement issued a missing child alert for their two-month-old child after a court order to take the child into state custody. They were captured during a traffic stop with the baby.

The two-month-old was recovered and the parents admitted that they knew that the Department of Children and Families was looking for the baby. Both were arrested.

During the traffic stop, at least one of them refused to exit the vehicle because he said he is a sovereign citizen.

The one-year-old child, examiners say, was starved to death.

The couple has multiple children who were all removed and put into foster care. They had been previously arrested in July 2021 on felony counts of interfering with custody of parent/guardian in connection with allegations that they absconded with their children during a visit.
