Another Capitol Rioter Choosing The Sovereign Citizen Route?

Daniel Egtvedt of Maryland is scheduled for trial June 6 after being indicted on multiple felony counts in connection with the January 6th capitol riot.

What’s most interesting are this latest report about his activity while in custody:

According to reports, Mr. Egtvedt’s lawyer has said that she is not aware of any connections that her client might have with the sovereign citizen movement.

It is possible that her client learned about these tactics in jail, which is where quite a few learn about sovereign citizen ideology and tactics. He also may not have told her.

Even if his lawyer or Mr. Egtvedt himself do not consider him to be a sovereign citizen, it would appear as though he’s attempting to use tactics that are consistent with that ideology. It is common for people to deny being a sovereign citizen.

If he is utilizing sovereign citizen tactics and ideology, he would not be the first capitol rioter to do so. Pauline Bauer is the most well-known capitol rioter currently using sovereign citizen tactics. Thus far, is only made her situation worse. Others include: Josiah Kenyon, Alan Hostetter, James Beeks, Yvonne St Cyr, and Eric Bochene.

Will this continue or this be the end of it? Only time will tell.
